JANUARY, 2007
THE PURPLE ONION WILL BE CLOSED UNTIL JANUARY 18. SUSAN, STONEY AND THEIR WONDERFUL STAFF NEED SOME TIME OFF TO RECUPERATE AND DO SOME WORK AT THE CAFÉ. WHEN WE RETURN, HOWEVER, LOOK AT THIS FABULOUS JANUARY LINE-UP:
JANUARY 18 – GIGI DOVER AND THE BIG LOVE. We are delighted to have Gigi and her wonderful band kick off 2007.
JANUARY 20 – JACKSON CROSSING. These guys light up the room with their rootsy rhythms and harmonies.
JANUARY 25 – CHUCK BRODSKY. Just when you think that it could not get any better, we welcome Chuck back to our stage.
JANUARY 27 – BILL NOONAN BAND. Be the first in Saluda to purchase the band’s terrific new CD which has just been released.

The beginning of each new year reminds all of us at the café why we do what we do. Susan has asked for space to express how she feels about the café and all who have participated in any way.
The Purple Onion was conceived by two sisters in 1998 who envisioned a gathering place which would reflect the gracious casual pace which characterizes Saluda; a third place, a neutral place away from home or work for friends and family to come together for good food, good conversation and live music.
As we begin our ninth year at the Purple Onion, Stoney and I are truly grateful to all of you who have helped us create the vision my sister Lynn and I had for this place. We were able to complete many of the projects this year with the help of friends and family which we believe enhance that vision. These important people include:
Our staff who have worked tirelessly all year maintaining their keen sense of humor in spite of the stress of the business. They make it a joy for me to return to work each day.
Adam Henry for his assistance in the construction of the bar and our patio area. He takes the pain and stress out of the construction process.
My daughter Emily on the new website launched in February.
Robert Seiler who keeps our Purple Onion community connected with his eloquent musings in the monthly newsletter as well as the terrific music all year including our newly inaugurated Sunday Night Concert Series.
The musicians who work their magic each evening. It is inspiring to us as well as the audience.
WNCW for being such a positive force for performers and venues that provide live music in our area.
Most important, all of you who support the Purple Onion and live music with your presence all year long. Your friendship is dear to us. A happy new year to you all with wishes for a healthy and simple life abundant in beauty and rich in the comfort of friends.
